For the fifth consecutive year, AFLMT has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Rathmann Family Foundation. The board was notified of the most recent grant in June 2016. The mission of the Rathmann Family Foundation is “to promote and support innovation, development and excellence in science, technology, education and the environment”.
The foundation has a variety of interests, among them are “improving lives and strengthening communities” as well as the “conservation of the environment and open spaces for low-impact use, such as hiking, walking and off-leash recreation.” In other words, the interests and objectives of the foundation are altogether consistent with the mission of AFLMT. Although this year’s grant was for general support, it is likely that the bulk of the funds will be directed toward the LMT trailhead signage project (see related story).
Earlier grants from the foundation also have benefited a number of AFLMT outreach programs as well as “infrastructure improvements,” such as the development of this website and other social-media platforms. The board of directors of the AFLMT expresses its deepest appreciation to the Rathmann Family Foundation for its critical and steadfast support of the LMT project throughout the past five years.
