On Monday, November 21, 2011, AFLMT Board President Joseph Karam presented the LMT to about 20 members of the Lebanese American community in the San Francisco Bay area. Organized and offered graciously by Mr. Abdo George Kadifa on behalf of LebNet, the dinner gathering at the Garden Court Hotel in downtown Palo Alto brought together an impressive group of Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area executives who share a passion for Lebanon. After viewing the 2011 LMT video documentary and a Powerpoint slide show about the LMT, the group engaged in a constructive discussion and Q&A session about ways to support the LMT. Ideas included establishing an AFLMT local chapter in Palo Alto, cultivating LMT “Ambassadors” throughout Lebanese American communities in the US, publicizing the Trail through such publications as the AUB Alumni monthly Maingate Magazine, and distributing LMT flyers at entrances to Lebanon’s protected areas. The group expressed their enthusiasm for the LMT and called for putting in place programs to host Lebanese American student volunteers along the Trail during the summer. The group pledged long-term support to the LMT, with members donating a total amount of over $10,000 to the AFLMT!Thank you Abdo George Kadifa! Thank you LebNet!
